Food, anyone?

Ashlin's nursery school is selling some food stuff as a fundraiser - cookie dough, pizzas, pizza crustsd, etc. If anyone's interested in ordering I'll put it through and make sure it gets to you. You can see all the items at Gourmet Kitchen Fundraising.

We've just been run over by the fundraising bus from BOTH our kids schools!

WHY? WHY? WHY?

Believe it or not, I have heard parents, during a chocolate sale (aka wax-covered almonds), ask for MORE chocolates. I was flabbergasted, but apparently some people like the products.

Pressure from the school is non-existent, but the nursery school has even threatened to fine parents who don't "fully" take part in fundraisers, which legally I don't think they can do because if you're funded by the government (they are) there are strict limitations around fees. I wrote them a letter explaining why, for both health and ethical reasons (e.g. fair trade issues) we wouldn't take part in chocolate sales but would be willing to take part in other sales if they fit with our values. So what are the next 2 sales? This gourmet kitchen stuff and and bud, spud and steak night, both of which are not exactly where we are going with our health decisions.
