A bit of romance
You
Your countenance is as the sun,
It’s halo love awakened
Shouting silent glory to God
Waxing beyond remedy of men
You are a wave breaking upon me
You are sound and light in my void
You are the smell of spring in the air, I breath you in and my heart is glad
You are nightbreeze upon my skin, full of life, bearing testimony that everything you touch in passing grows and rejoices in you and is purified
Your voice is as the wind blowing through the trees, whispering you love, I hear you and my heart is undone
You are the smell of first rain, a rainbow in my grey sky
As beautiful and silent as the morning mists and at once thunder in my heart
You are as the sound of music, my soul rising and falling with every note
You
Robert Frost? Nope. Robert Daly. Yep, my loving husband gave me this on our ninth anniversary. I have never felt like I quite deserve it, but I'm sharing it because I think it is wonderful and a great example of what the man I married is like.
I've been thinking about him a lot today. If all goes well, he will start parental leave, well, pretty much now. So I get a couple of weeks with my sweetie before I have to start practicum. He's where he belongs - with me. I have heard of couples who can't spend too much time together because they tend to get sick of each other. That's not us. Our home never seems right when he's away.
Some things I love about Rob:
1. He is thoughtful, thinking of things that he can do for me or our children or his parents that will bring smiles to our faces.
2. He is romantic, as the above poem attests.
3. He is sensitive to people's feelings.
4. He is a great father, extremely protective of our kids (and nearly going into coniptions with worry now that Taryn is going to start kindergarten)
5. He is a great cook - five spice chicken and chinese beef being two of his specialties.
6. He is good at getting things done around the house and yard.
7. He is hilarious. He has a quick wit that can think of a funny take on a situation in a moment's notice (like when his supervisor's wife came to work looking for him - he got on the phone and said, "Excuse me, Don, but there's a woman here who says you're the father of her children.") I always wanted a man who could make me laugh.
8. He is intelligent. There's nary a topic that comes along that I can't discuss with him and get helpful feedback.
9. I love his voice. You know when Pippin sings that song in the final Lord of the Rings movie? He was once singing that in another room and I thought he had the movie on.
10. He is faithful to his wife, his family and his God.
