"Come to me all you who are weary and I will give your rest...my yolk is easy and my burden is light."
"Take up your cross and follow me."
Seems a tad contradictory, doesn't it? Not much rest when carrying a cross. A cross seems like a fairly heavy yolk. The only way I can reconcile the two is to see them as different seasons in life. Sometimes we rest, sometimes we carry. There are light times and heavy times, joy and sorrow.
I have felt very weary for a month. I think I'm trying to carry crosses and maybe the HS is not the one requiring this of me right now. The first verse is the one resonating with me. Maybe this is supposed to be a season of rest.
