Le Miserables
The woogy sense of thinking and the slight scratchiness in my throat have finally come to the forefront. I am officially sick and have taken the afternoon off. In my 20s I used to go entire years without taking a sick day. There is still a little part of me that says, If you can sit up, you should be at your desk. But I also don't want to infect everybody else at the office, both for their sake and because if they end up sick I may have to teach their classes.
So I'm on the couch, in a blanket, with nothing to read. I just finished Donald Miller's Searching for God Knows What. which I really enjoyed but please don't ask me to tell you what was in it because at the moment I don't remember - woogy, you know.

get better soon!
Ugh! There is nothing worse than woogy! Unless you count swooshy and blechy!
I have some news to make you feel better. I went to the library to take out some Adrian Plass books to make me laugh. And guess what?
They only had the novel "Ghost" which I am guessing, is not funny.
I checked it out anyway. The librarian asked if it is a good author, I told her that he is hilarious but they don't have any of his funny books.
She gave me some order forms to fill out to get the library to buy some of his books, needless to say I will order ALL of the diaries, Plass classics and Stress Family Robinson.
Woo-hoo! Winnipeg, get ready to laugh, here comes Adrian!
You're right, "Ghost" is not funny, but also a good read. Curious: what do you consider the Plass classics? There are so many books, even I do not yet have the complete Plass collection.
I wish the library good luck in getting the 2nd Stress Family Robinson book. I'm thinking I'll have to order it from the UK if I ever want to read it.
I missed Adrian when he was in Winnipeg in October. I had to take Taryn to music lessons. Sigh. But do keep me informed on the books. I've always been curious about which requests the library actually buys.
As to Classics, there is a book called The Adrian Plass Classics.
That is what I meant to order.
I think the librarian will be willing to order a few of the books to "our library" (Henderson) because she insisted I take the order forms as "she loves to laugh" so I think if I give it back to the same girl, that should gitter done.
Who knows how long the ordering/buying process takes though...we shall see.
I did see Adrian and Steve when they were here in the Peg.
Quite an amusing evening.
Adrian had some good one liners.
Oh - surprise - I have that one. It's a compilation of The Growing Up Pains of Adrian Plass, Cabbages for the King and View from a Bouncy Castle. All good IMO. I especially enjoyed reading about his years as a youth care worker, for obvious reasons.
