Sitting in church this morning while sipping my java (lovingly brewed by hubby just before leaving), I was eyeing the communion ready to go up front and thought, "We should have communion with coffee because of it's life giving properties."
I may not be so far off. If Jesus had come to our society in this time, I think the last supper would have been bread and coffee. Wine seems to have been a very common drink when he walked the earth, there are quite a few references to it. Wine makers were probably as common as Starbucks. At the last supper, he was not giving them a drink they thought to be special, but one quite ordinary, and giving it unique symbolism.
Think I can get the church to change over?

you're wacked! (in the best way!)
hahah
They served pita bread and grape Kool-aid at the SJ Vineyard. All I could think about was, "grape Kool-aid?!" So much for meditation on the sacraments...
